The G-Band 1 is a very low-profile device that is barely noticeable on your guitar, and allows you to capo either of the outer E strings at most frets of standard neck width guitars. It does not interfere with your playing, and you can easily reach over and behind it. You can even use it as a 5th string capo on many banjos.

It is made in England out of spring steel coated with soft rubber.
It was invented in 2004 to add a high 3rd-fret G to allow banjo-type licks for lead guitarists. It does not fit wide-neck guitars and may or may not work on bouzoukis, banjos, baritone ukes and tenor guitars, depending on the width and profile of the neck.

The G-Band is small, inexpensive, and worth using and exploring.

The G-Band Model 2 capo clamps 2 outer strings. This quickly creates new musical possibilities, most of which can't be done by universal partial capos because they block a lot of the fingerboard.
The Model 2 G-Band capo clamps two outer strings.

You can modify a Model 2 so it will only clamp the B string, and the Model 2 also works as a single-string capo on electric bass.

Harvey Reid's Capo Voodoo: Book 3 is the instruction manual for Woodie's G-Band capos. The 94-pages show 33 clever ways to use both types of G-Band capos in 10 different tunings to do all sorts of amazing things. Packed with over 1150 chords, and lots of ideas, tips, strategies and advice.

G-Band 2 is endorsed, and used by Jonny Greenwood - Radiohead and Lee Ranaldo - Sonic Youth.

    * Will not fit wide-neck guitars and may work on a variety of banjos, bouzoukis, baritone ukes etc. depending on the neck width and profile. May not go much above the 9th fret or so on some guitars, depending on the shape of the neck heel.
If the capo begins to slip, it can be bent to adjust. To restore 'stickiness' wash with warm, soapy water and allow to dry naturally.
