It's a straightforward DIY job pencil, 7mm drill, screwdriver. The one fiddly part is getting your mounting angle right first time, since you need someone to hold the guitar in place while you mark the bracket positions. Take your time on that step; it's the only part people find tricky.

The brackets are water-clear polycarbonate and don't touch the guitar body or the wall, so from most angles you genuinely can't see them: that part isn't oversold. You will see a small clip point at the strap buttons up close, but from across a room, it disappears and looks like the guitar is floating.There are other hangers that are clunky or need you to modify the guitar. Woodie's just clips in and hangs by your strap pins.

I never made an acoustic version. The acoustic hanger I sell is purely customer designed. It's not perfect; it isn't as 'invisible' because the brackets need to be turned outwards because a jumbo body is too wide. That said, it still looks way better than normal neck hangers. It won't work if your acoustic doesn't have a strap button fitted at all.

Honestly, this is my biggest bugbear. People think it's best suited to guitars you display rather than grab-and-go every day. But, the system was designed to clip and unclip the guitar easily. It's aircraft grade polycarbonate, strong and flexible and it won't break. See the FAQ about it snapping if you don't believe me ;-)

Yes, the lower bracket is rated to hold significant weight, and it's designed so an angled mount shares the load across both brackets rather than putting it all on one. If you're mounting a particularly heavy instrument, angling it slightly (rather than dead level) distributes the weight more evenly and is worth doing regardless of guitar weight.

Yes, all screws and wall anchors are included. Some earlier batches were criticised for not including washers; you don't need them. We've changed out the foam block too for a more asthetic rubber stopper. If anything's missing from your box, contact us and we'll send the missing part out, no argument.

In sixteen years, we've had two reports of a bracket snapping both down to user error during fitting, not the hanger itself. One of them was Colin (my dad), who owned up straightaway: "it's because I'm an idiot." (actual quote). The material is polycarbonate, the same stuff used in aircraft windows and riot shields, designed to flex rather than crack — in fact, at NAMM 2010, when George Hines of George's Music asked if it could take the weight of a guitar, our founder stomped on one of the brackets to prove it. That's the moment that convinced him, and George nominated it for Best in Show, which it won, twice, that same year. Go slowly on your first fit and you won't have a problem. And if yours ever does break in normal use, we'll replace it no argument.

It depends on your strap button placement. Most electric guitars and basses fit without issue, but a small number of guitars — some Gibson/Epiphone models in particular — have really big strap pins, which can make the upper bracket a tight fit. It's an easy fix, either a nail file or an email to me and it'll be sorted in no time..
